bAMBOO pOP-UP lIBRARY

The design of this bamboo pop-up library based in Kowloon, Hong Kong, draws inspiration from it's surrounding views and the urban landscape of iconic high rises and their integral place in nature.

Poised to be set up on the Avenue of the Stars overlooking Victoria Harbour, directly in front of the luxury mall K11, the library hopes to speak to the average Hong Konger that frequents the area and to their questions of how they can be part of the ecological solutions within their urban environment.

The contrasting elements of steel and bamboo showcase the symbiotic relationship Hong Kong has with its' surrounding environment. The library serves to educate and intrigues passerby's to read, listen and hopefully spark them to make a difference in their own day to day choices with regards to sustainability.
